About Zosia

Zosia Macdougall Brett

Zosia has always had a passion for both art and nature. She grew up exploring the Dorset coastline, learning about plants and being a member of the local goat club. Surrounded by a family who loved painting, sewing and creating, her childhood home was filled with canvases, fabric, sewing machines, spinning wheels and other artistic materials. She often made her own clothes, inspired by generations of seamstresses, her great grandmother having sewn for Marie Curie in Poland. Nothing in her childhood home was ever thrown away. Both her mother and grandmother were able to make something out of anything, having arrived in this country with just one suitcase during the second world war.

Zosia has since lived in Sheffield, Cambridge, Venice, Taunton, Bristol and Bath, always working on projects to bring people closer to nature, mostly through crafts, sometimes using nature and art as therapy and always embracing the seasons. Originally trained in Botany and Landscape Architecture, Zosia's working life has taken her to nature reserves, forest schools, lagoons, yurts, Steiner settings, schools, galleries and wild in the woods, always foraging, learning and teaching new crafts. She currently runs the Craftworks project at Bath City Farm.

When Zosia lost both her parents in 2021 and inherited many crafting materials, she decided to set up her own studio near the Holburne to share her passion for the natural world, art and creativity with others. Since December 2023 she has been offering workshops from this beautiful new creative space.
